Last night we arrived safely to Grace House with all of our luggage! After a brief meeting togther we all head to our rooms around 2am, completing our 37 hours of travel. Saturday morning started with breakfast made for us by the Grace House staff before we hit the road. Our first stop was to see the view of Nairobi from the top of the Kenyatta International Community Center. It was exciting to see the city and all of its beautiful and unique architecture! Our next stop was visiting some of our upcoming campers in their homes in Mathare, a slum located outside of Nairobi. The families invited us in and were willing to share their stories and the struggles they are facing from the terrible flooding that occurred a few months ago. Most of the families we talked to lost their homes and everything in them. That loss, combined with resulting injury and illness has left many of the families in extremely dire situations. We were able to provide them with hope and encouragement through God’s word and food vouchers worth approximately $50 usd which will go a long way in feeding their families while they work to rebuild. After leaving Mathare, we traveled to Kijabe where we will be staying for the night and attending church tomorrow morning. It was a blessing to reunite with the Onguka family and spend the evening eating with them and debriefing from our trip to the slum.
Please pray for safety as we travel to the OneLife Africa Campus in Nakuru tomorrow afternoon and begin to prepare for our campers arrival.
Thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers!
Blessings in Christ,
