After a busy week at camp and many hours of travel to different parts of Kenya, we experienced a sweet gift from the Father to end this trip - rest.
Currently our team is staying at a beautiful safari resort in the Mara, something we did not know was part of the trip until later into preparation. But we’re thankful for it!! This has been a much needed time of quiet, processing, and taking in God’s breathtaking creation.
This morning we left for a sunrise safari drive at 6:15 am. We bundled up as we drove through the reserve - hats, gloves, shukas (traditional blanket/clothing) - because yes it gets cold even in Africa. After we drove for a few hours, seeing lions, giraffes, wildbeasts, zebras, and other wildlife, we ate a feast for breakfast in the middle of a field. We’ve been spoiled by the amazing food and staff here!
On our drive back, we got to visit a small Maasi village where one of the One Life students, Danson, lives. They greeted us with a warm welcome and showed us their humble homes. We were able to pray over a couple of the families there and support them by buying handmade trinkets that they sell to tourists.
The afternoon was chill and restful. Naps, team devotions, chats with friends, snacks and coffee. We ended the day with a sunset safari drive. At the very very beginning of our drive, we saw a kill!! A mama cheetah was teaching her baby how to hunt and they hunted down a small gazelle. Our driver said that seeing a kill was very rare and he couldn’t remember the last time he saw one. Needless to say, we were pretty pumped about that!!
Thank you everyone for your prayer, support, and encouragement!! We’re all looking forward to coming home and sharing about what God did on this trip. Please pray for us as we process this trip and for those that are still not feeling well on our team. We’ll see you soon!!
