Conference 1 - Day 1

After only 4 hours of sleep for the team, by the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, the first day of the conference was a great success! Nancy did an amazing job teaching and we ended up using all the books that were printed. The men's team at the pastors conference taught Calvary's own Pastor Steve Kilgore's ROADS (Read, Observe, Analyze, Do & Share) method and the local Pastors translated it into a khmer acronym that worked for their culture and language. This was such a success that the women's team altered their plans to use what the local Pastors had developed as a variation of the ROADs method for use in teaching the women.

It was so beautiful seeing the replication of discipleship. I personally had a group of 8 women plus a translator, but some of the groups were much larger as new women joined the conference throughout the day.

Nancy would teach the group as a whole alongside a translator, then I would pray over the young woman translator in my group and we would talk through the method and then she would turn and pray over the group and begin to teach the local women the method in khmer, asking me questions for clarification when needed.

By the end of the conference we had a young woman, whom the translator had taught, taking initiative and teaching unprompted the method to a new young woman who had joined after lunch and missed the first half of the teaching. My heart nearly exploded with joy at what I was witnessing.

This is what we are praying for! That we won't be needed after the initial teaching and that these women would learn how to teach other women how to study the Bible for themselves with confidence and in turn do the same for others so that God's name might be glorified , that others might come to know and grow in their walk with our Lord Jesus!

Please continue praying for these young translators and the women they are teaching. Pray for Mary as she prepares to teach tomorrow and us leaders that we would be able to clearly communicate the method and the message to these translators who are in turn communicating to these local women. Thank you all for following and supporting us in this gospel endeavor !
