Today was the last day of the last conference. As one of the translators said, it was both sad and happy at the same time. Happy to see the work that the Lord has been doing and sad to leave. The final count was between 65-70 between the two days which put the two conferences combined around 165 -170 women who were equipped with tools on how to study the Bible for themselves.
How incredible that the initial thought was it would be 40 between the two conferences! Think of the impact if each of the 170 women goes and teaches one woman who teaches one other woman in a cycle that continues! How many might come to know or grow in their walk with Jesus as Lord as they engage with Him in His Word?!
Mary did a great job wrapping us up teaching the Do and Share portion of the ROADS method and Lisa was able to share her powerful testimony on stage followed by many other women. Please pray that these women will take the tools they've learned and go back to their local villages and teach others. We cannot thank you all enough for praying us along and supporting us throughout this entire journey. It's been stretching, challenging, enlightening and rewarding all at the same time. What a privilege to be a part of God's work in His Kingdom!
Once again I got to witness the beauty of watching a local group of women make a plan to meet together twice a month on Saturdays to finish out the book of James together with the intention of being able to take the method and apply it to other books of the Bible as well as teach others how to study the Bible for themselves. Many of the women in my group spoke and understood English very well and I even found a doppelganger that one of the women said I looked like in her English teacher (even though we aren't related the resemblance was striking).
With the intensity of the past two weeks, I can't yet begin to imagine what the come down is going to look like but the future potential of doing workshop conferences like this elsewhere is incredible and we see not just a need but a shared desire amongst so many others. Our continued prayer as a team is that women would come to know our Living Lord Jesus as Savior and grow in their walk with Him as they encounter Him in His Word for themselves.
Please continue to pray for Pastor Pisal and Sophorn's ministries, for the work that the global partners like Brian and Jody are doing - investing in local Pastors and leaders to equip and train them to be able to invest in and teach those closest to them so that many more might come to know and grow in relationship with our Lord Jesus to the glory of His name.
Thank you so very much for following along with our journey and a huge thanks to Calvary Church, all the gifted pastors, staff, teachers and leaders with their heart to partner with and invest in people for the sake of the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Thanks for allowing us to partner in carrying forward the vision.
We have two days left here before we head back late Monday night to, Lord willing, arrive back in the states Tuesday evening. Please pray with us for safe travels with no hiccups like the trip to Cambodia, for smooth re-acclimation to the 11 hour time difference and that we would continue to allow what we have learned overselves here to transform us to look more like our Lord Jesus. Thank you church family.
