First day of English Camp

Greetings from SK!

Today we began the first day of camp! We met our students, ages 7-21, and kicked off the week with some fun learning activities. It is a joy to partner with the school here and to start getting to know our students!

Our time the previous two days spent with ministry partners and experiencing various cultural elements helps us to understand the complicated dynamics at play in our classrooms. There is a wide range of ages, English levels, native languages, amounts and types of traumatic backgrounds, etc. that make teaching trickier than the norm. We are asking God for His eyes and His heart as we navigate teaching time and interact with the students.

One meaningful thing for me personally has been getting to reconnect with multiple students again (having gone two years ago to teach another ESL camp). Additionally, back then, I met an NK woman who had been forced to leave her daughter when fleeing to SK, and we prayed for this heavy situation. Today, I was blessed to see how God answered that prayer—that her daughter had recently, finally come to SK and they were reunited! Her daughter is attending our camp!

We are all a bit tired, but because of it, even better able to see Lord’s clear provision throughout our time so far. Thank you for your prayers!

(And sorry, things were moving too fast to take photos today!)
