At the end of the day yesterday, all the materials were in place on the second floor for the bricklayers to continue building the walls. But, there was a change of plans. They had been setting some of the cross beams and needed to wait for the concrete to cure before they could go further with the bricks. So, this morning, our team and four workers started tearing out some of the supports on the first floor. The supports along the walkway came out first, then one section of the first-floor supports was removed. The men cleaned the floor of debris and sand. The next step was tearing down the plywood pieces that were the base of the form for the bottom of the second floor. Lots of crashing as the sheets of plywood banged to the concrete. These materials will be used again for the next floor.
Taking out the supports really opened up the walk area and the room. What a great feeling!
The men didn't have to work in the sun today, so that was a bit of a reprieve. There are a couple of the workers who have been consistent throughout the week. We are here for just a short time, but relationships start to form.
Tomorrow is our last day of work. Pray we finish strong.
