And can it be? This good thing is coming to an end; tomorrow we fly home to Pennsylvania with a layover in Frankfurt. Pray for us as we leave for the airport at 3:45am. We will continue to debrief throughout our travels tomorrow.
The past two days have been “on the road”; we’ve walked some of the Via Egnatia and visited a couple locations where the Apostle Paul was imprisoned. Reading the Scriptures aloud while standing there is a powerful experience. While the van air-conditioning didn’t always cooperate, the food and good company made up for it.
The “get away” afforded us chance to garner perspective and have each share impactful things from the week of ESL camp. We enjoyed meaningful interactions with Calvary’s global partners on-location and focused prayer times.
Some of the highlights we discussed about camp were the sweetness of the students, their delight to be at camp, and our informal pedagogical interchanges with a few local English teachers were highlights. The mutual support, varying giftings and generations, and the “gelling” of this team were underscored multiple times. Not everything was pleasant but our team, our leaders, school host have all counted BALKANS ESL 2025 as a real success.
THANK-you for praying. PLEASE do not stop now. Even more important than our safe trip home is the on-going bridge-building that will be happening in the weeks and months ahead. For now, you can focus your attention here; pray for several coffee meetings this next week between our global partner and individual English teachers who observed our Avengers-themed ESL camp. May the aroma of Christ AND excellence in local education permeate.
Grateful,
Jay Weaver
