Today was a bit of a different day, but still so fun! We had one village stop today at Varre Vento. When we arrived, some of the locals were making farinha, which is a topping put on top of most Brazilian food - the process to make it is long and it was cool to see the locals explain it and then also see them come through the med clinic later in the day.

On the medical side, we saw lots of patients today with various conditions. We’ve been so excited to be able to pray with the patients about things they are struggling with or excited about. It’s been great, yet hard to have patients open up about family struggles and request prayers for medical conditions! We’re praising the Lord for vulnerability and open hearts! The physicians and nurses have all gotten to be challenged in various ways by switching up roles and also seeing interesting medical conditions along with a few wounds. We’re thankful to the Lord for providing the right ideas for each situation and diagnosis and thankful to our translators as they have provided lots of insight into the village ways of life and the common diseases and medical issues.

On the VBS side of things, we had approximately 40 kids of various ages attend this morning. After a time of playing games, singing songs, and memorizing a scripture verse (Luke 19:10), we switched things up and tried our "Jesus Calms the Storm" lesson for the first time. Children volunteered to act as Jesus's disciples and sit in the boat (aka tarp) while the other children simulated a storm. They seemed engaged with the story and were happy to participate. During craft time, we had several of the moms and dads join the kids in doing the craft today as well.

After VBS, and while the medical team was wrapping up before a lunch break, we helped host a church service with the local Brazillian missionary, Jonase. The team sang a song, Emily shared her testimony, and CJ gave the sermon.

When lunch was over, the medical team headed back to the village and saw approximately 5 more patients before the whole team packed up and headed to the next village we will start at tomorrow. On the way, we took a quick pit stop to swim in the middle of the river, which we have enjoyed immensely.

Please continue to pray that we remain healthy and the team dynamics continue to be as smooth as they have been! Pray that the Lord will continue to open hearts as we go to the villages tomorrow and that we would have energy in both VBS and medical to minister well after several hot days.
