Today was a busy and exciting day. We started out the morning in the village of Pucu. The medical team saw 91 patients this morning in the village school. We saw 39 patients in our smaller second village, which is where Jonaze lives. He shared his testimony with us at the end of our "work" day. We continued with being able to spend more time in prayer with our patients thanks to our gracious translators. We have also been able to teach Greg and Anne's children more so they can participate in caring for patients. Thank you for all of your prayers for us.
The VBS team saw about 30 kids in the morning and 13 kids in the afternoon. Our team has become much more confident leading games in Portuguese and we have a comfortable flow with our translator, Anne. We also had the opportunity to encourage a young woman named Ketlen who is the only believer in her village.
The village we visited in the afternoon is where Jonase lives and uses as home base to minister to all the villages we are seeing in this trip. We got the chance to meet his family and hear more about village life through a tour. We also held a service here! Rick preached and Jen shared her testimony. The kids in this location were able to hear both bible stories as we taught Jesus Calms the Storm at VBS and then pulled the kids out for an evening Sunday school of Noah’s Ark.
This afternoon, Jonaze gave us a tour of his home, introduced us to his children, his father and sister, and showed us around his village. Jonaze's home was noticeably beautiful because of the planning and care he puts into it. He showed us their water and power supply. He also taught us about the plants in the area and again shared more fruit with us.
After the church service, we were able to spend time talking with the people of the village. Many conversations took place thanks to boat WiFi and Google translate. We were able to get to know people more and get specific prayer requests.
Greg offered to take us out on 2 small boats at night to spot alligators. It was amazing to be out in the middle of God's creation. We wrapped up with a late night debrief, but left this day feeling encouraged to be partners in the Lord's work.
Pray with us that the few believers in each village would be encouraged and stand firm in their faith when trials come.
Thank you for your prayers for us so far - they are felt and evident in the safety of our team and relationships that we have been able to build with local workers.
